Behavioral Health

Only one hospital in Anne Arundel County offers all these mental health care services. Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

These services, that give every patient the strength, knowledge, confidence, and hope to live a happy and productive life, include:

  • Dedicated psychiatric services within the Emergency Department
  • Inpatient psychiatry
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
  • Consultation/liaison services for medical units within the hospital at the request of the medical staff
  • Case management services specific to patients with co-occurring disorders
  • Behavioral Health Support Group
  • Referrals to private-practice psychiatrists, therapists and other community support services
  • Transportation assistance for PHP/IOP clients
  • Whatever our patient's needs and diagnoses may be, Baltimore Washington Medical Center's team of psychiatrists, social workers, registered nurses and occupational therapists provide them with the treatment, skills and confidence needed to thrive at home and in the community.

 

Inpatient Acute Care Services:

  • 14-bed secure facility for adults at least 18 years of age
  • Short-term stay program for stabilization of acute psychiatric emergencies
  • Interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers and clinical specialists
  • Treatment plans individualized for patient's specific needs
  • Individual and group psychoeducational services
  • Family consultation and education services
  • Referrals to private-practice psychiatrists, therapists and other community support services
