Diabetes Today


(Part 1: 3 hours)

Monday, 8:30 - 11:30 am

Tuesday, 4:00 - 7:00 pm

Thursday, 8:30 - 11:30 am


People newly diagnosed with diabetes. Also recommended for those using oral diabetes medications and have never attended diabetes education classes.


*Billed to insurance



Participants will receive information and training on self-managing diabetes and lifestyle changes through topics that include "First Steps," "What Can I Eat?," "Exercise Basics" and "Foods That Fit." Class size is limited to 10 patients; one guest per patient may also attend. Registration is required.

 

Diabetes Self Management Training Tuesdays, 9:00 - 11:30 am

Wednesdays, 9 - 11:30 am
People in need of comprehensive diabetes knowledge who have had diabetes greater than 5 years or with multiple daily insulin use. *Billed to insurance

Four weekly sessions plus a follow-up class 3 - 4 months later. Class size is limited to 10 patients; one guest per patient may attend. Registration is required.

 

FIT/Pump: Intensive Insulin Management Classes are scheduled on Thursday late afternoons on a rotating basis; please call for dates and times. Patients of Joslin Endocrinologists who are on multiple daily insulin injections and Joslin patients who are interested in insulin pump therapy. *Billed to insurance

Four - six group sessions plus individual visits as needed. Class size is limited to 5 patients; one guest per patient may also attend. Registration is required. Participants must see an Endocrinologist at this center.

 

Glucose sensor clinic Individual appointments Patients of Joslin Endocrinologists with diabetes needing information on glucose trends that may be difficult to obtain through blood glucose self-monitoring. *Billed to insurance

During appointment with RN, patient is instructed on use of the sensor and record keeping. Patient is to return sensor and records in three days. Registration is required. Participants must see an Endocrinologist at this center.

 

Support Group Meets monthly on the third Wednesday of the month from 5:30 - 7:00 pm on the 2nd floor education area of Joslin Diabetes Center. All people with diabetes and those that care for them. No charge No registration required. This is a drop-in session. Topics discussed are raised by the participants.
