Dosage

Oral (OTC labeling): Adults: Two tablets every 2-3 hours as needed (maximum: 19 tablets/24 hours)



Administration

Tablets may be chewed, swallowed whole, or allowed to melt in the mouth.



Patient Education

Follow instructions for dosing. Take with a full glass of water or juice, 1-3 hours after other medications and 1-2 hours before any iron supplements. Avoid other antacids, caffeine, or other calcium supplements unless approved by prescriber. You may experience constipation (increased exercise, fluids, fruit, or fiber may help). Report severe, unresolved GI disturbances and unusual emotional lability (mood swings). Inform prescriber if you are or intend to become pregnant. Consult prescriber if breast-feeding.
