A medida que el feto se desarrolla, la formación de los órganos sexuales internos y/ o externos puede volverse anormal. Dicho desarrollo anormal puede producir estructuras anatómicas sexualmente ambiguas o una anatomía aparentemente normal que no funciona bien.
