University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center offers a variety of support groups to patients, families and community members manage health conditions in a supportive group setting. These are ongoing educational series that are free of charge and open to anyone who is interested, along with their family members or loved ones.   • Lactation Support Group
    Connect and learn with mothers in the community about the challenges and successes of breastfeeding, no reservation necessary. This is just one of many childbirth education classes offered. If you have any questions, please call 410-595-1782.
  • Cancer Survivorship Support Group
    Open to all cancer patients, survivors, support persons and their family members. In addition to networking and peer support, the group will discuss timely topics related to treatment and care with monthly guest speakers. For more information, call the Tate Cancer Center at 410-553-8179.
  • Living with Diabetes Support Group
    Open to all with diabetes and their family members, Living with Diabetes is an opportunity to discuss topics and find answers to patient questions relating to the illness. Some of these could include maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing their daily challenges and health tips.   • Mental Health Support Group
    The mental health support group covers a variety of mental health topics such as depression, anxiety, addictions and bipolar disorder.   • Parkinson's Support Group
    The Parkinson's support group is Hosted by the UM BWMC Rehabilitation Services Department and is open to individuals with Parkinson's disease, their caregivers, family members, friends and anyone interested in learning more about the disease. Discussions include managing symptoms, maintaining an active and high quality life, and sharing experiences and support. Pre-registration is not needed. For more information, call 410-787-4433.
  • Stroke Support Group
    Anyone interested in learning more about stroke recovery and prevention is welcome to join the stroke support group. The program covers topics that include driving after a stroke, mental health and understanding the medications. For more information visit stroke services or call 410-787-4138.
  • Parents’ Morning Out
    Celebrate the joys and address the challenges of parenting with other parents in your community. Informal monthly discussions are led by a certified childbirth educator and cover a range of topics that will vary each session. Join your parenting peers to share your experiences and receive support where you need it.   • New Beginnings of Parenthood
    Join us for a FREE support group for connecting parents on the joys and triumphs of early parenthood. This is a safe space for parents seeking support, encouragement and connection during the postnatal phase.
