Preventing Diabetes and Building Healthy Habits Class
Throughout each month, our diabetes educators lead one-hour classes to discuss factors leading to diabetes and explore lifestyle changes to prevent diabetes and improve overall health. For dates and times and to register, call 410-787-4940.
Blood Pressure Screenings
High blood pressure greatly increases your risk of heart disease and stroke, so it’s important to have your blood pressure measured. We sponsor free bi-weekly blood pressure screenings on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 8:30 a.m. to noon. They are held at Harundale Presbyterian Church, at Eastway and Guilford Road in Glen Burnie. No reservations are needed.
Mills Milers Walking Program
UM BWMC co-sponsors a walking program with Arundel Mills that allows walkers to enjoy a year-round, one-level continuous indoor course at the mall. The distance inside the mall is 3/4 of a mile. The mall opens at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday for mall walkers. Interested walkers can visit the Guest Services booth, located near Entry 4 in the Breezeway (between Last Call Neiman Marcus and Saks 5th Ave OFF 5th) at Arundel Mills to pick-up a waiver and registration card. For more information, call 410-553-8103 or visit the website.
Heartbeat for Health
Every February during American Heart Month, UM BWMC hosts a heart-healthy expo at a local community center. This free, informative and fun-filled event offers exercise and dance demonstrations, health screenings and healthy snacks for the entire family. Friends and family can dance, learn simple ways to stay healthy and get motivated to make positive changes in your health.
