We all know proper nutrition is the key ingredient in maintaining a long and healthy life. But chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity are on the rise, and a major reason why is our diets. UM BWMC physician Florence Jaffa, D.O. and dietitian Amanda Markie, M.S., R.D.N., L.D. will discuss how certain food groups affect the body and how microorganisms such as probiotics are beneficial. They will also compare different world-wide diets to those commonly consumed by Americans and detail the pros and cons of each. An interactive presentation on how to properly read a nutrition label will also be featured. A question and answer session will follow.
Attendees can enjoy light snacks and a complimentary gift.
