University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center offers smoking cessation classes to educate residents of Anne Arundel County about the health risks associated with regular tobacco use and to assist those who are determined to quit smoking. Participants will learn about the barriers to smoking cessation, the health benefits of choosing a smoke-free lifestyle, nicotine-replacement options, motivational exercises and techniques for stress management. All meetings are offered free of charge to all adults who live or work in Anne Arundel County. Free nicotine patches and nicotine gum will also be available to smokers who participate in all of the classes.
Class size is limited to 14 and participants will be registered on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information or to register for the program, call UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center's Community Outreach Department at 410-553-8103.
